Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) conjugated peanut agglutinin (PNA) is a laboratory reagent used to detect and visualize glycoconjugates, particularly those containing terminal galactose residues. PNA is a carbohydrate-binding protein that specifically recognizes and binds to galactose-containing glycoconjugates. These glycoconjugates are molecules where carbohydrate chains are attached to proteins or lipids. HRP is an enzyme that can be used as a label or detection tag. It catalyzes the oxidation of certain substrates, which can then be visualized or quantified.
