BAPTA-AM is a cell-permeable calcium chelator used to regulate intracellular calcium ion (Ca²⁺) concentrations in biological and biochemical research.
Once inside cells, cytosolic esterases hydrolyze the AM esters, releasing active BAPTA, which then binds Ca²⁺ions with high selectivity and affinity.
