DSPE consists of two stearic acid chains(C18 saturated fatty acids)and a phosphoethanolamine head,exhibiting amphiphilicity and capable of self-assembly to form liposomes or micelles The phenylboronic acid group can form dynamic covalent bonds with cis diols(such as sugars),suitable for pH or glucose responsive drug delivery systems DSPE-PBA can also be used as a gene vector for delivering DNA or RNA(such as siRNA or mRNA).
